Let’s not forget how social media killed creative writing and headlines. SEO results ranked by how well you play by formatting and word rules: using word X first in the headline, and so many times in sub headers and body; no plays on words, nothing clever, bullet lists not paragraphs, more than Y words but not more than Z words long. And his forbid you post the same article on more than one site b/c the bots will cancel you. The list goes on. It’s a creative’s nightmare.
I took it a step further and quit my smartphone altogether in 2020 during the pandemic. Been using a flip phone since. I have enjoyed countless stimulating conversations since, mainly between me and myself while looking at the clouds. I strongly recommend it.
These words express perfectly what took me 4 years of hustle "trying to make it" to learn ! On top of the promotion on socials not working, I saw my music become more formulaic & boring to make... until my health forced me to stop & reconsider everything. And I came to the same conclusions as what you say here.
Makes me want to make huge signs with every other sentences & flood the streets starting a revolution ! lol
one hundred gajillion percent. and no discrimination on strange character choices... goblins, ghouls, devils, maybe bugs? I saw recently SZA was like, "I just don't wanna not be a bug anymore." I predict a lot of bugs in the near future 🐞
I’ve only read a bit of this and it’s already amazing. This is my big conflict with social media. Internet promotion can be quicksand for the creative person.
If you take a look at social networks artists are running everywhere sharing Spotify metrics and if you are starting it looks like it may be the way to go but is crazy…
My adoration for musicians, and live music is without bounds. I am 53, and most of my life has been in service of musicians. And I am okay with it. I just want them to play louder, more often, everywhere. Instead of the constant lament of all that they do not have. Musicians, in my experience, are often a glass is half empty bunch.
I do not think most of the "creators" consider themselves artist. One can be a painter but not be an artist, one can make music, but not be an artist. Artist have never been appreciated, do not blame it on Social Media or Ai. Van Goh sold one (1) painting in his life, and his brother was an art dealer. Commercial success is orthogonal to being an artist.

Yeah the algorithm was never intended to support art and culture ☹️
Not at all.

Iconic! I’ve had times of getting rid of my smart phone and I’ve loved it.
Yes to it all! Keep screaming it out loud! We have all become too complacent with technology!
I had chills down my spine reading this article!

Once you see it, you can't unsee it. It's so high key evil and it's making everyone feel bad.
sorry not sorry i'm now freakin obsessed with you
The way the feeling is mutual?
the way I want to have an Immersive sound bath camp-out sleepover to celebrate?
Holy shit we’d have such juicy experiences. Should we host like retreats where we’re just goblins and we teach others to be goblins?

They just want the cheat codes. But there are no cheat codes.
They just want to "go viral" because they seem to aspire to nothing more than corporate conformity.
"I can feel the turning of the tides, pulling away the night, like a sheet from over me..."
I think most of us want a cheat code if there’s a cheat code. And you’re right, there isn’t one. ❤️
