Through a distinctive blend of avant-garde guitar techniques and innovative electronic processes, they create meditative improvisations that challenge conventional approaches to harmony and structure. Their prolific output of nearly 150 albums showcases a fearless commitment to artistic authenticity, weaving together guitar, drone, glitch, and noise into deeply personal sonic sanctuaries.

i love the way you organized the article. like βhey hereβs mine, see that wasnβt too bad, ok now do yours.β made it feel like a team effort which made it less daunting of a task.
here is what i came up with for mine based on this strategy:
ok your article on the bio is so helpful.
iβm sure this needs a little work still but i just gave it a shot and feels like the best bio iβve written so far, so thank you.
Nathan K. is a Midwesterner from Michigan living in Nashville TN. His simple acoustic folk songs put life under a microscope to illuminate the overlooked - the funny parts of grief along with the sad parts of the funny moments. As a member of the acclaimed band Stepdad, he has performed on large stages across US and Canada with songs featured in a smattering of placements like FIFA β13, Weeds, Mindy Project, a BMW ad campaign - but lately he has been performing in more intimate venues with his wife Sara Beth Go who adds Omnichord sparkles, harmonies, and nudges him to wrap it up when his hilarious stories start to get too long.
Dave is an artist who lives in his workshop. His music is the music of objects and random electronics, of samples and loops. Dave's goal is to present the everyday as fantasy so that the listener might hear themselves listening.
Cass, thank you. This was super helpful. I like to keep things short and sweet when I can, and you've essentially given me the license to do that with my bio and not feel guilty about what's missing. Very grateful for your work here!
Dude (can I say dude?), I love your writing so much and it definitely reaches beyond the music sphere. I'm new to my own indie journey so I've never thought about even writing a bio. But here it is using your framework! Thanks!
Daniel is an iOS developer who has spent the majority of his career at early-stage startups, most notably GOAT. He uses his personal life as inspiration for the indie apps he creates. His previous indie attempts have had little to no success (Pullquotes, Pixelfits, and Hacks) but his current project is his most hopeful as he works to make sunscreen fun through technology.
The Sunscreen Game is Hourβs first indie app that he is not afraid to talk about in public and is available for download on the App Store now. The game helps you develop healthier sunscreen habits by employing the same mental model as Appleβs activity rings:
- I donβt want to workout but I want to close my rings.
- I donβt want to wear sunscreen but I want to hatch my egg.
The Sunscreen Game is dedicated to those who grew up in the sun but suck at wearing sunscreen.
This is great! If you're, um, into the AI thing (I am), you could put your guidance into a Claude Project (Anthropic) or CustomGPT (OpenAI) and create a fancy "bio-writer" for artists to use ... just answer a few questions, and Cassidy's "bio writer" will write them for you!
This is great! Iβd consider shortening the second sentence. βUsing acoustic instruments she writes songsβ could be - βShe writes acoustic songsβ. βSoothe hurting hearts, calm anxious minds and navigate confusing situationsβ feels redundant to me. What if the whole thing was
She writes acoustic songs to soothe the weary. Or something like that.
Her warm acoustic songs offer solace in anxious times. Just riffing here.
Nicely done article. Dodobbird.pixels.com so hard to explain myself.......(6 sentences? 1. Crazy gardener type/true crime survivor so far/environmentalist/dissident/monarch butterflies/poetry on substack.)
Ok this is what Claude and I came up with:

So *for me* Iβd turn the nob to less words.
Yeah, Claude gets wordy. Iβll work on making it more concise π
Ok, take 2:

I love this, Nathan! It reads as such a warm invitation into your work β€οΈβ€οΈ

Ooooh that last sentenceβ¦ Iβm dying without more info about that but maybe thatβs good
That's good

Iβm so glad you like it!
you're so good at this ugh
Thanks for the article and tips. Got to get to work on mine. Your bio really got me interested in your work as a musician. It works!
Heck yeah - and thank you!
This is very helpful, thank you!
Iβm so glad! β€οΈ

Well explained! One thing I notice manuals on this conflict about is: if for a band, is it necessary to list the members?
It increases the length quite a bit, for a "one-page", but some writer-type folks (+ other keepers of gate) get huffy if you skip it.
Which side do you stand on?

I mean, if that's your thing, by all means
This was a super helpful article, I had tons of fun writing it and it helped me embrace unique parts of my journey.
Hereβs my bio

Omg yes! Thanks for wording it like that. I didnβt feel confident enough to say it so directly π«£π«£π«£.
That is absolutely the biggest hurdle - just saying it directly β€οΈ
